Socket Head Shoulder Screws

Socket Head shoulder screws are manufactured to strength grade 12.9 or varying grades of stainless steel.

The purpose of grade 12.9 is to increase wear resistance on the shoulder. Due to the undercut between the head and the shoulder, the tightening torque should be lowered accordingly.

The shoulder diameter is produced to close tolerances. The concentricity of the shoulder to the thread and head is accurately controlled.

Typically they are used for accurate location in jigs and fixtures.

Shoulder screws are defined by shoulder diameter & shoulder length. When specifying, to avoid confusion, it is recommended to indicate the thread diameter as well. E.g. 16mm (M12) x 70mm long.
